Foundations
8 Foundation piles. The first 4 foundations begin with an Ace and the remaining 4 foundations begin with a King. At the beginning, an Ace and a King of each suit are placed face up into the foundations.
Tableau
1 Tableau of 64 cards forming a 8×8 grid. Cards are dealt in alternating orientation: the first card vertically, the second horizontally and so on.
Reserve piles
8 Reserve piles with 4 face-up cards each.

Foundations
- Build the Ace foundations up in suit from Ace to King (1 pile of each suit). Build the King foundations down in suit from King to Ace (1 pile of each suit).
- Cards are moved individually.
Tableau
- Cards with at least one of their shorter edges free can be played onto the foundations or discard pile, either up or down in suit.
- Building within the tableau is not allowed.
- Empty spaces cannot be filled with any card.
Reserve piles
- Build up or down in suit with cards from the tableau or from another reserve pile.
- The top card can be played onto the foundations or onto another reserve piles.
- Empty reserve piles can be filled with any exposed card from another reserve pile or from the tableau.
